I am invited to give a talk on “AI in Tobacco Control and its Policy Implications” at Health Policy Workshop at Istanbul Medipol University. I highlighted the prevalence of tobacco-promoting content online and the limits of traditional monitoring approaches. Although Türkiye fully implements the MPOWER package, I argued that more holistic and innovative digital strategies are needed. I introduced our AI-powered “social media smoke detector,” which can automatically identify tobacco-promoting posts and support stronger, preventive public health policies.
